Thank you very much for your access to my office. With my new office opening, it is a great pleasure to be given the opportunity of explaining to you on the management policy of my office. Bearing in mind the expectations by the administration to the role of solicitors, my office is committed to promote the greatest possible benefits for clients. Among a large number of business affairs which fall on solicitors responsibility, my office would like to undertake, in particular, international ones for foreign nationals coming to and residing in Japan. Major international services I am going to offer in the capacity of a solicitor are as follows: 1) Support entry of foreign nationals into Japan and residing in Japan 2) Address problems of living in Japan for foreign nationals 3) Support to obtain permission to work in Japan 4) Support to receive training program and internship program 5) Support to establish business in Japan 6) Assistance for documentation 1) Support entry of foreign nationals into Japan and residing in Japan ● Within the territory of Japan, foreign nationals abide by Japanese laws and they receive legally differentiated treatments. ● First, before coming to Japan, they are required to obtain permission of entry. Moreover, depending upon the purpose of entry, they have to acquire a status of residence from a number of status categories. ● Second, foreign nationals, when their residence is fixed after entering Japan, are obliged to make their foreign registration. ● Third, other permits are often required. Among them are permission for a change of status, re-entry permission, permission for extension of period of stay. ● To deal with these matters, my office is ready to accept the requests from clients and is most pleased to proceed with correct formalities and documentation. 2) Address problems of living in Japan for foreign nationals ● When foreign nationals start to live in Japan, they encounter various kind of problems or troubles to be overcome. To cite some examples, they are employment, business transactions, acquisition of real estate, education, housing, transportation, shopping, etc. etc. ● To tackle these, my office is fully prepared to extend counseling services on any problems resulting from their living in Japan and, when necessary, is pleased to assist them in solving the problems. 3) Support to obtain permission to work in Japan ● All foreign nationals who are allowed to enter Japan, are accorded single status of residence according to their purpose of stay. It is very important to see whether each status of residence includes the qualification to work in Japan. Those people who wish to get employment authorization must proceed with extra formalities and need some special arrangements. ● My office is well versed in these matters and is most pleased to give clients good advice on necessary procedures. Further, if the clients desire, my office is ready to proceed with formalities on their behalf. 4) Support to receive training program and internship program ● Japan has a long history of extending training to the people of developing countries to transfer technologies/skills to them. However, activities of trainees invited to Japan are limited to training purpose and are excluded from employment engagement. ● In late 1980s, the needs for foreign manpower were getting high on the side of Japan, and the training program evolved to include a new scheme by harmonizing the two needs, to say, human resources development in developing countries and demand for foreign manpower in Japan. This new scheme is called the Technical Internship Program(TIP)、and traditional one is called the Industrial Training Program(ITP). TIP is upgraded over ITP to include employment engagement and is now widely welcome by Japanese firms and organizations. ● My office is pleased to participate in the process of both ITP and TIP and is well prepared to proceed with necessary formalities and to make arrangements for receiving trainees and for their employment by Japanese firms. 5) Support to establish business in Japan ● There are many foreign nationals who are interested in setting up small-scale companies, NPOs, cooperatives and other organizations. In establishing these, however, there have been many restrictions imposed on foreign nationals over the years. ● As these restrictions are now almost lifted, it is easier for foreign nationals to enter into the business establishment of this kind. ● My office is pleased to offer consulting services for correct procedures and, if necessary, is willing to proceed with formalities and documentation. 6) Assistance for documentation ● Documentation constitutes a substantial part of undertakings of solicitors. My office is fully prepared to comply with the request by clients for drafting any documents, formal or informal. ● The documents drafted by my office for formalities would satisfy the administration because my office has the advantage of leveraging documentation skills and expertise obtained through a long-term foreign service of myself. ● English documentation is available as well. For information and inquiries my office is reached by Telephone/Facsimile: (+81)-03-5840-8975 E-mail: info@tsukahara-amb.org 1)Inquiries ● Your inquiries are kindly requested to include your name and address, and your telephone or facsimile number or E-mail address. ● The reply will be made quickly under the motto: " Be kind, polite and faithful to clients." 2)Fees ● For information and inquiries no fees are charged. ● For consulting services my office accepts fees depending on the nature of requests.
